RTE GUIDE / PUFFIN YOUNG PEOPLE’S SHORT STORY COMPETITION 2016
We are delighted to announce the annual RTÉ Guide / Puffin Children’s Short Story Competition, offering a unique opportunity to get your short story published in the RTÉ Guide!

There are three categories for individuals to enter and the story can be whatever they want to write about: funny, serious, scary or adventurous. Each story should be original and unique to the student.
•7-10 yrs old – up to 400 words
•11-14 yrs old – up to 750 words
•15-18 yrs old – up to 1,000 words

There are some great prizes to be won for the Winners, Runners-up and this year we have a bonus prize for your class!
– Each Category Winner will have their story published in an issue of the RTÉ Guide.
– The Winners will also receive a Kindle E- Reader and a hamper of books worth €50.
– The two Runners-up in each category will receive their own hamper of books.
– The Winners and Runners-up in each category will receive a free annual subscription to the RTÉ Guide.
– The Winners and Runners-up, along with their parents, will be invited to attend an awards ceremony in RTÉ and take a tour of some of our sets!

How to Enter:
– Entries can be submitted via email or post and include your name, age, full postal address, email address and telephone number.
– Email entries should be emailed rteguidepuffinshortstory@gmail.com with ‘RTÉ Guide / Puffin Young People’s Short Story Competition’ in the subject line.
– Postal entries should be posted to RTÉ Guide / Puffin Young People’s Short Story Competition, PO Box 1480, RTÉ, Donnybrook Dublin 4.
– Entrants under the age of 18 must have signed parent/guardian consent to enter.
– Closing date for all entries is 5pm on Friday April 22, 2016.
