Dive into Stories!

It’s almost Christmas time and once again I have produced a booklet of short stories written by my writing students. This is our largest collection ever. Fifty-six children, teenagers and adults, who attend my Creative writing classes in Skerries and Malahide, have contributed stories. The booklet is entitled ‘Dive into Stories’  and it costs €4. All profits are going to the charity Turn the Tide of Suicide (nominated by one of the authors). Turn the Tide of Suicide is a registered charity founded to raise awareness of the problem of suicide in Ireland and to raise funds to help lower suicide rates through dedicated research, educational support and intervention.  The charity receives no government funding but relies solely on fundraising and donations. I am delighted that all profits generated from the sales of the booklet are going to support this worthy cause. We are printing 400 copies of the booklet and they will be go on sale from 15th December in The Skerries Book shop, The Village Book Shop in Malahide, Skerries Mills and Manor Books in Malahide.

THE LAUNCH

The launch of our booklet takes place in Skerries Mills on Thursday 15 December at 5.15p.m. Everyone is welcome: friends, grandparents, aunts, children and anyone else who would like to come. It is always a very Christmassy affair  with festive nibbles and drinks. Some writers will read their stories aloud. It is very pleasant for everyone to sit, eat and relax while being read to.  After the readings there will be signings by the authors. A book is much more special when it has been signed by the writers!  The launch is usually over within the hour and we’ll be packing up by 6.15p.m.

FINALLY OTHER WRITING NEWS:

My schedule of classes for January 2021 is up on my website.

I am running a one day Adult Writing Workshop on Punctuation, Grammar and Editing on Sunday 15th January 2012 (date has changed from Saturday 14th)  in Skerries Mills from 10.30a.m. – 3p.m. The cost is €45.

The new term  for everyone begins on Monday 16th January and runs for ten weeks until Easter.  There is an early booking deal with a ten percent discount available up until 20th December.  There are already bookings coming in  and a deposit of €50 will ensure a place, however to qualify for the early booking deal, the full amount needs to be paid by 20th December.  It will be a ten week term (with a week off during the February mid term).  You will find more information on course here : https://meganwynne.com/writingcourses/

Finally I would like to remind you that a good way to keep up to date with my creative writing classes is to like my Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/meganwynnecreativewriting. Here I give news of writing competitions, the Christmas booklet and any writing events that I hear about.

I hope to see you at the launch on December 15th in Skerries Mills at 5.15p.m. In the meantime, enjoy the run up to Christmas, and remember to make lists – they cut down on stress!
