Biography

Author Biography.

Megan worked as a secondary-school teacher, ran her own business providing corporate language classes, trained teachers in university and taught English as a second language. Then one morning, after five years of writing a journal, Megan experimented and wrote about a fictional character instead. Nine months later she’d completed her first novel. She gave up fulltime teaching – English, German and History – and dedicated herself to writing. Since then she has had short stories published and come runner up in the RTE/Penguin Ireland Inaugural Short Story Writing Competition, the From the Well, Short Story Competition (run by the Cork County Council Arts Office) and Listowel Writers’ Week Originals, Short Story Comptetition. Her novel ‘Eyes of A Boy’ reached the second round of this year’s Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award and has been short listed for the 2011 Impress Novel Award.

Megan lives overlooking the beach, in north county Dublin, with her husband, Oisín. Now working on a novel for children, Megan teaches creative writing to children, teenagers and adults in local libraries, a bookshop, schools, an art gallery and a castle – in fact anywhere beautiful and inspirational. Every Christmas she produces a booklet of her students’ short stories, and sells them for charity.
